EDI 365 Case Study

The Service

EDI 365 provides flexible support from our dedicated specialist on an ongoing basis. Having EDI expertise on tap can be an important contributor to progressing EDI in your organisation - EDI 365 is an effective approach to accessing a community of experts in a cost-effective way.

Hope&Glory is a private sector public relations agency based in London with a diverse portfolio that showcases their work in a breadth of industries. They are champions of media in all forms and know how to create a great story for their clients. With such high standards for their work, they also seek to be ahead of the pack in their understanding of EDI.
To support Hope&Glory evolve their D&I strategy through gaining insight from training and focus groups. A full review of their current D&I strategy will help support them to deliver against their EDI goals to become a more inclusive place to work. A report will be produced to include recommendations and shared with the leadership teams. Actions will be determined out of this. The Public Relations industry unfortunately has a lack of diversity. According to the CIPR State of the Profession 2019 report, just 8% of practitioners say they are anything other than ‘white’. The proportion was even lower than in the previous year.

Our Work

Hope&Glory has around 100 team members working in its creative agency who have a number of clients including; Adidas, American Express, Esty, Guide Dogs, Sainsbury’s and Sega to name a few. The Equal Group has had a long standing relationship in supporting their EDI Strategy which has included training in the past. However this was an opportunity through our EDI 365 service to work with them on the strategic approach.

We were fortunate enough to have access to the team members and board of directors where our senior consultant hosted a number of focus groups. This was mainly to gain insight of the culture at H&G and also the team members' experiences. The director team gave insight into the vision or EDI and also some of the challenges they are currently facing.

Closing Thoughts

Through this insight, data obtained from engagement surveys and time with colleagues in H&G it made it clear where the strategic priorities needed to be which formed the bases of the report. Alongside this TEG was able to scope out a number of key recommendations to support the move from an D&I action plan to an ED&I Strategy. These included; an updated strategy that is action oriented, a focus on underrepresented team members for learning & development, the set up of Employee Resource Groups and sharing more experiences through story-telling. Our senior consultant then was in a place to host a discovery session with the director team to discuss further how to take the recommendations to build a successful ED&I strategy with clear actions ready for 2024.

Testimonial

“ We have been working with Mac, Simon and the team at The Equal Group to help us review, refine and implement our DE&I strategy for 2024. From running focus groups with multiple team members to leading workshops and training, they have been instrumental in equipping us with the data, understanding and tools we need to take the next steps with our plan. They are also a lovely bunch of people who have been brilliant to work with throughout the process – I can’t recommend them highly enough"
